Contract With Cruise Line

A customer’s ticket for a cruise is a legally binding contract with the cruise line. Contracts will vary among companies, but most will limit the time allowed to notify the cruise line’s home office of an injury. The time allowed is usually six months. If notification of an injury is not filed within the time allowed, the traveler will be prohibited, by law, from making a claim.

Time restrictions also apply to the amount of time allowed to file a lawsuit. The time allowed is usually one year. If suit is not filed within the time allowed, a customer will be unable to sue the cruise line.

Cruise lines also designate the locations in which they can be sued, in their contract.
