Student Dies from Ortho Evra Induced Blood clot
18-year-old Manhattan student collapsed in a subway station
and died on the way to the hospital after complaining of a headache,
dizziness, and pain in her legs. An autopsy showed that a blood
clot had moved into the victim’s lung; the medical examiner
determined that the clot was a side effect of the birth control
patch Ortho Evra.
What is Ortho Evra?:
Ortho Evra was approved as the only skin patch for birth control
by the FDA and has been prescribed to over 4 million women since
2002
Women who use Ortho Evra are exposed to 60% more estrogen than

patch users between the ages
of 17 and 30 have suffered fatal heart attacks, blood clots,
and strokes since August 2002.
