What Is The Reason For The Recall?

This issue can force the oil line to become loose and spew oil into the path of the rear wheel, making the motorcycle much harder to handle. To date, there have been nine reports of such incidents, two of which resulted in crashes. The motorcycle manufacturer has publicly stated that this is a voluntary recall, meaning that it is not regulated or necessary, but rather in the best interest of customer safety.

This potential oil line issue affects Harley-Davidson’s 2017 line of “Touring” motorcycles manufactured from July 2, 2016 through May 9, 2017. Specific models include:

Recalled Harley-Davidson bikes

The recall began on Tuesday June 6th, 2017. Those who own a Harley model that falls on the recall list are urged to bring their motorcycle to the nearest Harley-Davidson dealership for a clamp inspection. If they discover a clamp issue on your motorcycle, it will be repaired for free. Again, this is not a mandatory recall, but Harley-Davidson highly recommends your utilize the free inspection.
