Have You Or A Loved One Sustained Injuries Due To A Peloton Tread Or Peloton Tread+?
You May Have a Claim.

What is Peloton?

A peloton treadmill that has injured hundreds of people.

Peloton Interactive, Inc. is a fitness company that is best known for its indoor cycling bike, the Peloton. In 2018, the company introduced their treadmill called the Peloton Tread, with a Peloton Tread+ being introduced in late 2020. The difference between the two treadmills is size. The Peloton+ is a few inches longer and wider, as well as 6 feet higher. The exercise machines come with optional monthly subscription programs for fitness regimens. After the introduction of the Peloton+ in September of 2020, complaints began to come in, stating that family pets and small children were being injured by the device.

What Unexpected Dangers Come From Peloton Treads?

As of May 2021, over 70 reported cases stated that children, family pets and bystanders were injured by the Peloton Tread+. The design of Peloton’s treadmill allows those close to the back roller to be forcefully pulled under the machine. Broken bones, lacerations and 2nd or 3rd degree abrasions were among the reported injuries. Additionally, the death of a child’s was confirmed in March of 2021. No details were given as to how this specifically occurred.

Did Peloton Take Action After Receiving the Injury Reports?

A broken leg.

By April of 2021, about 30 injuries were reported due to the dangerous design of the Peloton Tread and Peloton Tread+. This prompted the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue a rare independent warning about Peloton treadmills. Despite pressure from the CPSC and Peloton Interactive’s knowledge of the injuries and death, the company maintained that their product was safe and that the report by the CPSC was misleading.

A mere two (2) weeks later, officials at Peloton retracted this defense and issued a full recall on their Peloton Tread and Peloton Tread+. The CEO at Peloton Interactive said they made a mistake in their initial reaction to the CPSC warning and apologized. With about 150,000 units on the recall list, consumers can get a full refund (up until November of 2022) or can have the device moved to an area of the house that children or pets would not have access to, free of charge. Peloton Interactive will also introduce software changes and a PIN number to input, so as to not activate the device prematurely.

Despite this issued recall and changes being implemented, families and loved ones have been adversely affected by the dangerous design of Peloton’s treadmills. Injured families now begin to file lawsuits against Peloton to be compensated for their injuries.
