court of the Risperdal verdict and lawsuit

After a Tennessee boy began using Risperdal in 2003 to treat a psychiatric problem, the lawsuit claims that he began to notice an increase in the size of his breasts. Bringing the suit into Pennsylvania state court, the male victim looked for compensation for his enlarged breasts. The lawsuit claimed that the victim’s use of Risperdal led to the enlarged breasts. After a full trial, the verdict was released for $70 million to the victim. The jury found that J&J failed to properly warn that Risperdal could cause abnormal development of the male breast. What Are the Dangers of Risperdal?

One study found that use of Risperdal by young men may be as much as five-times more likely to develop gynecomastia compared to those who do not use the drug. Some other side effects that are associated with the use of Risperdal include an increased risk of diabetes and high-blood sugar, or hyperglycemia. Among these serious side effects, some of the less-serious, but still dangerous side effects include weight gain, rashes and muscle stiffness.
