Testosterone replacement therapy is used to increase levels of testosterone in men. The treatment comes in the form of pills, patches, injections or topical medicated gels applied directly to the arm, underarm, abdomen or inner thigh. For example, two New York residents, a husband and wife team, have recently joined in on the filing of testosterone lawsuits. They allege that the use of AndroGel caused several strokes. The husband was prescribed AndroGel in 2012 and suffered two strokes while using the medication. A lawyer filed their lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on August 13, 2015. The judge has already reviewed their case and it is progressing.
Other men are coming forward claiming that they never had a heart condition until using testosterone medication but now are experiencing side effects and cannot work. In addition to the harmful side effects, plaintiffs are claiming that the manufactures of the testosterone products marketed the drugs in misleading ways by advertising their product for anyone experiencing the symptoms of low testosterone when they knew testosterone levels naturally decrease as men get older. In other cases, low testosterone levels were never even verified and men were given the testosterone medication based on the symptoms outlined by the manufacturer.
