Doctor talking to woman about Transvaginal Mesh

Transvaginal Mesh is a surgical device used in medical procedures in women. Certain organs in the pelvis, such as the bladder and uterus, can “prolapse” or poke into the vagina, causing problems with urinating and making sexual intercourse very painful. One of the common treatments of this disorder is through the use of Transvaginal Mesh to restore the strength of the vaginal walls and hold the organs in place. This surgery often occurs after childbirth weakens the walls of the vagina.

Transvaginal Mesh Complications – Is the Cure Worse than the Disease?

There have been many lawsuits about the use of Transvaginal Mesh. Injuries experienced because of the use of Transvaginal Mesh have been known to include perforation of the bladder, intestines, and bowels; chronic vaginal drainage, discharge, and infections; and exposure of the mesh leading to feeling of lumps in the vagina or something protruding from the vagina, often leading to sexual intercourse that can be painful for one or both partners.

Transvaginal Mesh Lawsuit Threats Not Stopping Use of Dangerous Device

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first issued a safety warning about Transvaginal Mesh in July 2011. Despite many documented cases of women being injured through malfunctioning of their Transvaginal Mesh implants, the FDA has not yet issued a recall for this potentially dangerous medical device. There are many alternatives to using Transvaginal Mesh patch to repair pelvic organ prolapse (POP) or stress urinary incontinence (SUI) that are often treated with Transvaginal Mesh.
