How Did You Get Started?
After law school I worked at the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, handling criminal appeals. My work was focused on research and writing and arguing before the Massachusetts Appellate Court. From there, I gained extensive experience working at several private law firms, where I represented defendants in a variety of liability cases, including general liability matters such as premises liability, auto claims, and dog bites, as well as professional liability cases involving medical malpractice.
What Training Did You Have?
During my years defending liability claims, I gained experience analyzing medical records, assessing damages, and identifying weaknesses in claims. I was actively involved in all aspects of litigation, including drafting, and reviewing discovery, conducting depositions, attending arbitrations and mediations, and representing clients at various court proceeding throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts. My experience provided invaluable insight into how insurance companies evaluate cases, negotiate settlements, and strategize litigation.
What is a Typical Day on the Job Like?
Each morning, I begin by ensuring that all emails are answered, and calls are returned, as clear and timely communication is essential for keeping claims moving forward and reassuring clients that their case matters. I also dedicate time to reviewing case files, preparing for, and attending arbitrations, mediations, hearings, and court conferences. Additionally, I speak with clients to discuss their cases, provide guidance, and address their concerns, ensuring they feel supported throughout the legal process.
What’s Your Favorite Part of the Job?
Its undoubtedly the clients. Nothing is more fulfilling than having the opportunity to help someone in their time of need and make a meaningful difference in their life. Calling a client to share the news that we’ve secured a substantial settlement on their behalf, ensuring their medical bills are fully covered, and hearing the relief in their voice is incredibly rewarding.
