Paul d’Oliveira
Attorney
Attorney Paul d’Oliveira has been practicing personal injury law in RI and MA for over thirty(30) years. He started his law firm with two(2) offices and today has over nineteen(19) offices throughout RI and MA.
What Training Did You Have?
I graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI, where I graduated with honors. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Creighton University and also studied pre-med. I then graduated from Suffolk University. I feel my pre-med background in college gave me a good background to become a personal injury lawyer as one has to learn a lot about different types of injuries. I believe psychology background was perfect for me to learn how to be a good “counselor” for my clients.
How Did You Get Started?
After law school I was an associate attorney for a very successful personal injury lawyer (Robert T. Karns) with offices in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island for approximately 5 years before starting my own practice. I learned a lot from attorney Karns as he was a great mentor. He was extremely organized and ran a tight ship. I owe much of my success to him.
What is a Typical Day Like?
Every day brings about many different challenges as we have 19 offices and over 30 employees. There are a lot of moving parts and I enjoy it as it’s never boring. I love the people I work with as they all work hard and really care about our clients.
What’s Your Favorite Part of the Job?
I enjoy working on our marketing the most and spend most of my time working on our web site. We are always looking toward improving our web site design and content. I feel it is important for people thinking of hiring a personal injury lawyer to be easily able to find the answers to their questions and I feel our web site accomplishes that.
What is Your Greatest Challenge?
That is a hard question to answer as there are so many. My guess is that it is having so many people working in so many different locations. I feel it is important for our clients to be near one of our local offices as it is much more convenient for them. However, it does make it more challenging as opposed to having everyone under one roof.
