D. Robin Gouveia, a personal injury lawyer at d’Oliveira & Associates’ Middletown, RI office settled a case on behalf of a Newport Country, RI client for $150,000 from Coca Cola Bottling Inc’s Insurance company Broadspire Global T.P.A.
Ms. Gouveia’s client was passing a driveway entrance, when she was knocked out of her wheelchair. She suffered fractures of her left femur, hip and ankle which required open reduction and internal fixation surgery. The client was assessed with a 9% permanent impairment of her left lower extremity and 4% whole body impairment.
The client contended the driver of the Coca Cola Bottling Inc’s vehicle drove negligently. The driver (defendants) denied liability and contended the plaintiff was comparatively negligent. At mediation, the parties agreed to a settlement of $150,000 as compensation for injuries suffered.
