What Is Tasigna?
Tasigna is a new oral treatment for patients who have been diagnosed with the Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+CML), a rare cancer affecting both the blood and bone marrow. Tasigna was created by a company known as Novartis, a Swiss pharmaceutical company, and has been readily available for purchase in the United States since 2007.
What Is Dangerous About Tasigna?
Although not placed upon the label of Tasigna, the major danger associated with Tasigna is atherosclerosis, a potentially-fatal disease known to narrow the heart’s arteries. The narrowing happens when the heart’s arteries become overwhelmed with plaque, creating a rigid, thick coating on the inside of the arteries.
